Sometimes the adult bugs will lay eggs between the tufts of the mattress, the box spring or within the folds of linens. Bed bug eggs have a pear shape and are white in color. Eggs are usually laid in clusters which makes them easier to spot.

Signs of Bed Bugs – Stains

Various stains from bugs is another sign that bed bugs are present on the mattresses. Bugs that have recently had a blood feeding will occasionally get crushed by individuals while they are sleeping. Since the bugs are filled with blood, you will find blood stains along the mattresses or bedding from the bed bugs that have been crushed. You may also run across fecal matter around or on sleeping areas. Excrement usually appears as dark reddish brown spots. A large infestation of bed bugs can leave behind a considerable amount of staining.

Signs of Bed Bugs – Skin Remnants

If bed bugs are present, you will find remnants of their skin sheddings along the mattress. Immature bed bugs shed their skin or molt five times before they are fully developed; this happens after every meal. Brownish molts from also helps to confirm present or past activity. Other remnants you might run across are eggshells from all of the recently hatched bugs around the bed bug infested mattresses.
